It’s a well-known saying “All the world is a stage” but for me, “the stage is my world, my identity, my passion!”
Inherently, I have been blessed with a creative streak. My first foray on stage was at the tender age of six, when I started dancing with Shiamak Davar, and I haven’t stopped till date. Around the age of 10, I ventured into theatre (Wizard of Oz) and impromptu acting (Imps) with Divya Palat’s Balancing Act Production. I was fortunate to be identified by Aamir Khan Productions during a Shiamak performance to audition for Taare Zameen Par. I was among the final three shortlisted to do a screen shot with Aamir Khan and for the first time, I faced the camera. After that, there was no looking back. I did many print advertisements and catalogue shoots for brands such as Croma, Ruff, Westside, Mochi Shoes, Franklin Templeton and many more.
During secondary school, I started dabbling into music. Traditional drums came home first, and I gave five grades of “Rock School” examinations, until electronic music took over. For the past 4 years, I have been a DJ & Music Producer. I have been learning music production under the mentorship of Lost Stories (#52 DJ’s in the World). I have been performing at various clubs as a Bollywood artist.
In 2016, I joined ISME, which continued to give me a platform to showcase my talent. I took immense pride in representing ISME at various inter-collegiate festivals - Malhar, Kaleidoscope, H.R. Fest, Flame and Persianna. I was extremely happy when I was elected as the Vice-President for the college's cultural club, STAGE. However, the greater joy was when a few of us shouldered the entire responsibility of choreographing the Fashion Show for Persianna and Flame, and when we won both the events. Being the Contingent Leader at HR Fest and ACL at Flame - the thrill of creating waves and a brand recall for ISME among other colleges - was a new and different high that I experienced altogether.
With this background, I have attained skills and qualities that I would use to excel in the industry. After venturing into the world of theatre and modelling at a young age of 11, I have learnt to balance my work and studies at a very young age. Being surrounded by individuals almost double my age, helped me to think and behave maturely as well as take quick decisions while working. Dancing for Shiamak, as well as taking part in inter-collegiate festivals with college has instilled a large amount of team spirit, dedication, patience, coordination and hard work within me. I am able to perform and practice for multiple hours without complaints. My DJing and music production brings about confidence, pride and focus within me.
These skills have made me into the human I am today and I am thankful to the stage and entertainment world for that.
Since everyone’s first reaction to me, by default, has always been “Rahill, you are born to be in the movies”, there is no doubt that I look forward to building my career in the Bollywood industry.
